About Venice, ItalyVenice or as said in Italian Venezia is a city that stretches across several small islands in the Adriatic Sea. Venice is well known for its romantic appeal. CurrencySince Italy is one of the seven members of the European Union, you will need to use Euros currency when you are in Venice. Currency conversion can be done at banks, airports, railroad stations, and larger hotels although hotels usually charge you a larger rate for this service. An approcimate rate is that one US Dollar is worth about 0.7 Euro. As you can see, this conversion will make you "lose" money so things purchased in Euros will be costing you more. These rates change daily so see a bank or website for current exchange rates. WeatherThe climate of Venice can change drastically. During the winter temperatures can go below freezing, and in the summer temperatures can reach high 90s F sometimes over 100 F. Venice has very high humidity due to its location in the water. This humidity can make heat even worse in the summer. High tides can cause venice to partially flood. This happens fairly often but isn't to severe. TransportationThere are several methods of getting around in Venice. The easiest is walking. Many bridges and walkways are available to make just about everywhere in Venice accessible by foot. You can also get transportation via the waterways. Water taxis and water buses are available. A water taxi ride down the grand canal is a great experience. For a slower, more relaxed experience you may want to take a Gondala ride through the smaller canals of the city. |
